Wind turbine blades may cause Route 26 slowdowns

Motorists traveling on Route 26 between Lacon and Route 116 near Peoria may want to consider taking a different route starting Aug. 14 until early September.

According to a Facebook post put out by Bureau-Putnam County Bulletins & Alerts powered by LinComm, trailered wind turbine blades will be on Route 26 at Lacon heading south to Route 116 every business day into September.

“If you are traveling that direction at that time frame, it maybe very difficult to get around and could be a very long trip,” the post states.

The trailers are more than 200 feet long and travel at a maximum speed of 35 mph, according to the post.
